Algoflon® L206 is a white PTFE micropowder comprising loose agglomerates of sub-micron sized particles. It is specially recommended for use as an additive in elastomers (e.g. perfluoroelastomers) to enhance tear resistance at elevated temperatures and increase mould release properties.

Algoflon® L206 exhibits excellent chemical and heat resistance, low surface energy and low coefficent of friction.

Processing
• As an additive Algoflon® L206 is suitable for use in many applications. Due to its low molecular weight it is not suitable for use as a molding or extrusion resin. Depending on the application, it can be used at concentrations typically from 5 to 30% by weigth. Incorporation and mixing with host materials must be carefully controlled. It is recommended that mixing should be carried out below 30°C to produce good homogeneous mixtures.

• Algoflon® L micropowders can be dispersed using a variety of mixing equipment. Roll mills are normally recommended for high viscosity host material. For dry blend applications, high speed stirrers and tumble blenders can be used.

• In the case of elastomers, Algoflon L206 can be first blended with other fillers and then introduced into the elastomer before the final processing under normal conditions.

Storage and Handling
• Algoflon® L micropowders can be stored without shelf life issues when kept in a clean and dry area at temperatures below 30°C.

Safety and Toxicology
• Before using PTFE Algoflon® L micropowders consult the product Material Safety Data Sheet and follow all label directions and handling precautions.

• As with all PTFE materials, handling and processing should only be carried out in well ventilated areas. Vapor extractor units should be installed above processing equipment. Fumes must not be inhaled and eye and skin contact ought to be avoided. In case of skin contact wash with soap and water. In case of eye contact flush with water immediately and seek medical help. Do not smoke in areas contaminated with powder, vapor or fumes.

Packaging
• Algoflon® L206 is packaged in 20 kg non returnable drums. Each drum has one bag liner made of polyethylene resin.
